Simple Life

Lately I've found myself nostalgic for the simple things in life that bring me joy. I get carried away in twitter, Facebook, text, media, and all these technological advances. I miss the days before computers when I would just go to the library to look up stuff or sit outside in my backyard with a good book. Ive debated putting all social media to rest for a bit but I don't really think that solves the problem. I remember in 3rd grade when I would call my best friend from our house phone and we'd talk for hours on the telephone. There was no miscommunication or texts left unanswered. There was no room for awkward tension. Maybe one day Tyler and I can move to a cabin in Colorado somewhere and return to the simple days and use one maybe two means for communication with the outside world.

Colour Revolt

Last weekend my husband and I had the pleasure of traveling not only to one but two Colour Revolt concerts. Both shows were absolutely AMAZING! Here's just a few of many photos I captured of them.

Photos captured with Nikon D3000 #noedits

4 for 4

These past few weeks have been a bit awkward....

I was faced with a rough decision that has placed me in a bit of an awkward position in life; and with all the chaos, I seemed to have forgotten it was almost my birthday. So in hopes of realigning my life, I have decided to host a 4 things for 4 days challenge. These next four days before my birthday I challenge myself to

1. Have fun and not worry about the future.
2. Rediscover my passions.
3. Reacquaint myself with nature. (I use to love laying around for hours outside gazing at the sky.)
4. Focus on the now.

Sometimes it's necessary to just step back and take a breather.

All items thrifted.

10 Ways to Wear Bows

Bows play a rather important role in my life...
They are such a simple, easy way to compliment an outfit. Here are a few of my favorite ways to wear bows:

I love shirts that tie at the top into a bow. They can be so cute on their own or layered with a cardigan.

BIG bows are my favorite especially when they are crocheted:)

Simply classic...

I hardly where ribbons anymore. I forget how cute this simple, easy look can be.

Small, puffy bows are sooooo cute. I just love them in an updo like this.

I love the combination of a side braid and a bow.

Bow ties are my favorite! Here's a great example of how to style a feminine bow tie.

Bow headbands....I own a million.

I love the shade of green of this bow belt. Sooo cute!

Lastly, my favorite combination of bows is with floral dresses.

Thrift Store Adventure

My friend Dani and I ventured out to discover a few new thrift stores in the area. I didn't get to capture everything but let's just say we found some Amaaazzzing finds:)

Here's Dani shopping away!

I have a black pair of Ropers almost just like these! Sooo cute.

So many decisions....

This shirt was my favorite!

There's nothing I love more than beautiful floral print fabrics. Now if I only had a use for them...

More floral fabric...

Here's Dani deciding what to get. Such tough decisions...

I thought I'd save the best for last! No, I didn't actually purchase this, but I just had to stop to take a pic!

Hope you Enjoyed:)

Thrifted from Head to Toe

Is it just me or has this month been passing by like crazy? I feel like I blinked and here we are more than 2 weeks into April. I had such a delight today soaking up the fresh air and breathing in the sunlight. I have MISSED the sun so much! These past few week have been so difficult to bare. We've had nothing but rain and overcast cloudy days where I'm from. Today the sun is back (not so stoked about the heat:/) and I absolutely love it!

So many of you may know my bond with thrifted clothing. There once was a time when I only went thrift store shopping to add a few quirky items to the things in my closet, but now the tables have turned. More and more I find myself turning to the thrift stores to look for cute, stylish, fashionable pieces  rather then the mall or department stores. You can buy so much more for so much less...

All items thrifted.

Hope you Enjoyed:)

Art Journaling DIY

Front cover
Art Journaling is one of my absolute favorite things. With out it, all my thoughts and ideas would just float around in my head and never be put into motion.

Side tabs

Materials:
Burlap (tabs)
Newspaper clippings
Floral printed fabric (front cover and side binding)
Acrylic paint
Old book pages
Paper doilies
Hot Glue
Permanent Marker
Mod podge
Art Journal (I bought mine from Michaels)

I hot glued floral fabric onto the bind and stuffed it with pillow stuffing.

I knew I wanted to use old book pages, doilies, and floral but I wasn't exactly sure how they were all going to come together. I started by first mod podging the old book pages and placing them around the journal. I then continued by painting a white paper doilie dark green and placing it on the journal cover. The rest of it just kind of flowed naturally from there.

The back

I bought an inexpensive 2012 planner from Walmart a while back and thought it would be fun to combine the calendar pages with my journal! I cut the months out of the planner and glued them down in their own section called "Plan." I absolutely LOVE the convenience of having all my thoughts and plans in one place.

Calendar pages

Here's a peek at a few of the notes I've been scribbling down. As you can see, there's LOTS! I went through an older journal and added a few of those pages in here as well.

Lots of notes!

My favorite thing about art journaling is that you can make it look how ever you want it to! If you need a little help starting, pick two or three things you really like then play around with whatever ideas come to you.

Hope you enjoyed:)
