| (After going through a friends closet, these are the clothes we threw out.) |
#1 Throw out the Old to Make room for the New.
This can be a super fun, exciting project to do with a friend! First begin by throwing out the "old." Old does not necessarily mean things you haven't worn in a while. These things may be outdated, out of fashion, or things you simply just don't like any more; but, some old things can be absolute treasures. I remember once a friend and I found an awesome vintage top in the back of her closet that had been handed down to her from her grandmother!
#2 Pay Close Attention to the Things You Keep.
An essential way to first begin to distinguish your style is to pay close attention to the things you decide to keep as opposed to throw out. You may find a lot of similarities in patterns (floral, plaid, stripes), or colors, and styles. Take note of these similarities! When you go on your next shopping trip try and find things that are on this list. This is a list of things you already know you like! So you won't have to worry about buying things only to find out later you don't really like them. When cleaning out another friend's closet, I noticed we began to keep a lot of olive green and shades of brown (dark brown, creme, light brown, etc.). This brings me to my next tip...
#3 Find Your Color Story.
Look for colors that compliment your complexion, eyes, or hair color. These are the colors that will consistently look great on you! I have a lot of olive green and pops of rust orange and mustard yellow in my wardrobe. These are the things that I wear consistently. I don't necessarily mean to say you can ONLY wear these colors (I have lots of colors in my wardrobe), but these are the things you can rely on and trust to look great on you continuously.Freshen up your look and apply these tips to spice up you style!
Hope you enJoYed:)
Thanks so much for the tips! I've been getting rid of things left and right but now I really need to look at what I have left and how to best accentuate/complement it. It's so much fun to completely revamp your closet!
